Extreme Car Drive Sim 2 lets you drive a sports car in an open environment.

Extreme Car Drive Sim 2 is an ad-supported freeware car driving simulator. Many racing games have a structure to them, such as winning races so that you can unlock parts and more tracks. Extreme Car Drive Sim 2 does not have such a structure. It gives you a sports car—a Lamborghini Huracán knockoff—and sets you free in an open world. Some players may not like that lack of structure, but just driving and finding fun stuff to do in a hypercar while you lounge on the couch can be a refreshing game experience.

What Extreme Car Drive Sim 2 does best is its physics model. The developer markets it as realistic driving physics. Such claims are probably not accurate, but the vehicle behaves as you would expect it to for the most part. More importantly, the physics model is consistent, which means that you can develop skill, which is where the most enjoyment probably lies. You may have trouble with a particular jump, for instance, but once you know how to hit it in order to land on the bridge, you can do it every time.

The car model is rather good as well. This is too small a game to afford Lamborghini licensing, but you can tell what the car is, and it looks quite good within the context of this particular mobile game. Since the car will be your focal point most of the time, it helps the game to look better than it really does.

Extreme Car Drive Sim 2 provides you with a single environment, but the environment is quite expansive. It includes distinct areas, such as an urban landscape, a waterfront, a desert and even a skate park-like area with various ramps and loop-de-loops. The graphics are solid, but focus on the vehicle and what is in front of you. The backgrounds do not hold up, and a limitation of the game is that there no other vehicles or even pedestrians, which can make the game feel rather stale.

It can be fun cruising from one section of the map to another at top speeds. You can perform jumps and traverse various terrain, and if you get good enough with the controls, you can even hold drifts in a consistent manner. The default view uses a chase cam. You also have an inside-the-car view, but sticklers be warned: this not an authentic recreation of the Huracán or any car.

Perhaps the biggest issue with the game is the controls. You tap the screen to accelerate and brake, or you can tilt forward or back to do the same. You also tilt the device left or right to turn. This can be the hardest part to master, and the controls seemed tougher to grasp than they should.

Another issue is that Extreme Car Drive Sim 2 is ad-supported freeware, and the ads can be quite obnoxious at times. You can pay to eliminate the ads if you want. If you choose not to pay, we found disconnecting the device from Wi-Fi and cellular to be a must. This does not completely eliminate the nag screens and whatnot, but it does make them more bearable.
